Minor Requirements
The minor in chemistry allows interested students with a major in other fields to complete a significant portion of the course work required for the chemistry major. It allows the flexible selection of course work from the traditional subdisciplines of organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry.
Prerequisites
CHEM 171/181/172/182 or CHEM 151/161/152/162 or CHEM 110/131/141/132/142 or equivalent. Courses listed must be completed with a grade of C- or better.
Some chemistry courses at the 300 level may have additional chemistry, physics, and/or mathematics prerequisites.
Course Requirements (6 units)
- Six (6) 200- or 300-level full-credit chemistry courses exclusive of Chem 201, Chem 398 or Chem 399
- Life science majors and premedical students are advised to take 215-1, 2, 3 (with labs 235-1, 2, 3) or 217-1, 2, 3 (with labs 237-1, 237-2, and 237-3) and three (3) additional courses.
- Physical science majors are advised to take 342-1, 2, 3 and three (3) additional courses.
- Students with interests in materials science, earth and planetary science, or environmental sciences should take 215-1 (with 235-1), 215-2 (with 235-2), 333 and three (3) additional courses.
